An introduction to the complete arena of herbal therapy, beginning with a brief visit to the historical roots of this science.

This segment will examine the phytochemistry of herbs to discover the active ingredients for natural healing and focus on understanding these plants within their botanical families. We will start with 35 of the more popular herbs in familiar use in today’s herbalist tool kit, examining indications, precautions, contraindications and side effects of each.
You will begin to learn how to understand these herbs and where and when to utilize them in your clinical practice, how to use them in combinations, and what combinations to avoid.
We will also study herbal preparations, definitions, the preparation of teas, tinctures, syrups, decoctions, poultices and compresses.

This seminar is intended to delve deeper into the world of macronutrients (proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals). Many of these will be the popular supplements being used by your clients or recommended to them by today’s powerful marketing machines. We will look at their various sources and the different forms of each available on the market.

We will cover as many as possible of these more popular supplements, examine the various forms in which they are available, and provide guidance as to which forms of these supplements to use and when. Many of these supplements will be further examined in the context of specific illnesses and explanations will then be provided as to which supplements properly and safely mix, and which ones don’t…those that complement and those which conflict.

This seminar has been designed to assist the alternative medicine health practitioner intelligently deal with the growing matrix of prescription medications in today’s health care and how to work with your clients while respecting the indications and contraindications of their medication regimes.
We will look at over 20 classes of the most commonly prescribed medications in today’s society and help you understand what they are intended to do for your client, how they are performing their work, and what you must be alert to look for and to avoid; what works with and against many of today’s medications in terms of nutrients, supplements and herbs.

This seminar will walk you through the values and valleys of over 110 different foods across all food families.
Therapeutic main chemical ingredients, nutritional values, indications and contraindications of food therapy will be explicitly presented for all of the 110 foods. The seminar will also present the afore mentioned foods from a point of view of interactions with other foods, medication, supplements and herbs. Everything will be presented in a concise, easy-to-use form, enhanced by visual aids.
The seminar will conclude with basic aspects of food safety: "From Farm to Frying Pan…the food we bought but never ate".
